CEO Message

At this point in time when my dear homeland – AFGHANISTAN – is passing through critical path in history, the future of Afghanistan staunchly depends on how my country men and women handle the present stormy phase and lead her to a bright future. I and the whole team in KGC are travellers in the same path, and we all endeavor to overcome the ongoing challenges.

Over these last ten years, Kainaat Group of Companies (KGC): a construction, logistics, transportation and management services company, has made big strides to catch up with vibrant and fast moving market opportunities. We have had gains and losses. Gains in the form of many contracts awarded to us by the US Army Corps of Engineers – Afghanistan Engineering District (USACE – AED), European Commission (EC) and other international agencies. Most recently, KGC has teamed up with IAP Global Services to start up construction program in Afghanistan. We have already started one project in Kandahar. We have had losses, which we will never be able to replace. Mr. Iftikhar and Mr. Fahim, our senior finance and account managers have lost their lives while driving from Kunduz to Kabul. They were on duty, and wanted to report back to office after achieving their mission in Kunduz project. We do not have them with us, but their memories will live for ever with us as KGC goes on the track of progress, exactly dreamed by both late Iftikhar and late Fahim.

The challenging environment in Afghanistan that KGC is operating has always been rewarding in a sense that our project teams, engineers, skilled and unskilled personnel shape up in the face of difficulties faced during performance. Geographically difficult locations, climatic problems (variation of weather between -24 degree C and up to 50 degree C), absence of proper road and lack of access to reach life support amenities to some of our project sites are some of these challenges that KGC and other partners have been struggling to overcome.

We have been able to employ more than 450 technical staffs, and more than 6000 labors on our projects on average basis per year. This trend continued during 2009, 2010 and will be up in the years 2011 and 2012. I believe this has provided huge employment opportunity to my people and my country - Afghanistan. The contribution of international community, especially the people and Government of the United States of America has been playing a touching role in supporting Afghan Companies, which in turn creates employment as mentioned before.

I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to our clients who continued to repose their trust in KGC and extended all out support and cooperation during our operation. In the meantime, let me reassure all stakeholders, partners, people of Afghanistan and Government leadership that Kainaat Group of Companies (KGC) has been a player in the reconstruction process of Afghanistan in many ways, and will continue to do so in the years and decades to come.

Truly yours,
Muhammad G. SAHIBZADA
